Invasive Species Control

Our Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area (CISMA) collaboratively combats the threat of invasive species in the Barry Calhoun Kalamazoo area. This is achieved through a combination of education, monitoring, and treatment of high-priority invasive species. A seasonal strike team is available to conduct active management of select species. For a list of those invasive species, visit the invasives page.

For the BCK CISMA strike team to survey or treat invasive species we have to gain permission from the landowner or the manager of the land with signing authority. Proof may be required in some cases. Fill out and send to the BCK CISMA Coordinator at BCKcisma@gmail.com. Any fees associated with the management of a species will be discussed before the work is started.

Special Note: While we wish to help out everyone with their invasive species, our role is to stop new invasive species in their tracks and address them before it becomes a large scale problem. Therefore please note we are not for hire like a standard contractor, our work under state grants is prioritized with our limited resources and time. Please consult the list of species we treat before filling out a permission form.
