Notice of Annual Meeting and Directors Election
To all residents of Barry County, notice is hereby given that on May 12th, 2021, from 8:30 am to 9:30 am, the Barry Conservation District annual meeting and directors election will be held.

Notice of Board Vacancies and Elections
The Barry Conservation District is seeking candidates to serve on the Board of Directors. Three seats will be up for election on May 12,2021: (2) four-year terms, expiring May 12, 2025 and (1) ten-month term expiring March 7, 2022.

The Barry Conservation District Board of Directors is made up of community members of diverse backgrounds. The board supports local natural resource conservation efforts through fund development and fundraising efforts. It also advises the Executive Director on project and program direction. Board members attend monthly meetings, special subcommittee meetings, and volunteer at District events. Previous experience on boards is helpful, but not required, as these are elected positions.

Candidates must submit a petition signed by at least five residents of the district (Barry County). A resident is defined as an individual, at least 18 years of age, who lives within the district boundary and can verify their current address by one (1) piece of identification which proves residency. Nominating petitions are available through the Conservation District. The deadline for nominating petitions is Friday, March 12,2021 at 3:30 pm. The meeting will be held at the District office, 1611 S Hanover St, Hastings, Michigan and/or virtually as required or allowed by state regulations at the time. Notice of Non-elected Associate Board Member Openings
The Barry Conservation District is seeking volunteer associate board members for the Board of Directors. These positions are appointed, not elected, and do not have defined term limits or an official vote in board decisions. However, associate members’ opinions are valued and participation in meetings and events is encouraged.

People who are interested in resource issues in the county and would like to learn more and get involved are encouraged to inquire about an associate position. Interested candidates can contact the Executive Director at 269.908.4135 or sarah.nelson@macd.org for more information.

Notice of Virtual Meetings
In order to prevent the spread of SARS-CoV-2, the following regular meetings of the Barry Conservation District Board will take place virtually: December 9th, 2020 at 8:30 am,  January 13th at 8:30 am, February 10th at 8:30 am, and March 10th at 8:30 am.

Members of the public wishing to join any of these meetings can request a link or other method of participating in the meeting by calling (269) 908.4135 or emailing sarah.nelson@macd.org no later than one hour before the scheduled start of the meeting. Members of the public needing accommodations for a disability or who have other questions may also contact the district by the aforementioned methods. The agenda will be posted to the meeting schedule page at least two hours prior to the meeting.

2021 Spring Tree Sale Is Now On!

Our 2021 online Tree Sale store is now open. You can order trees online here. First come, first served, order your trees early! Pick-up of trees will be at Charlton Park, 9am-5pm on April 30th or 9am-12pm on May 1st. If Covid-19 does not allow us to have our regular pick-up system, we will have a drive-thru pick-up system for safe, contactless pick-up. Announcements will be made here and on our Facebook page.

Meeting Cancellation Notice

Please note that the regular meeting scheduled for the Barry Conservation District Board on October 14th, 2020 has been canceled. The next regular meeting will take place virtually on  November 11, 2020 at 8:30am.

Budget Hearing Scheduled For September 30,2020

The proposed budget of the Barry Conservation District for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2020, will be presented to the Barry Conservation District Board for final approval at a special electronic meeting at 8:30 a.m. on September 30, 2020. The public is invited to comment on the proposed budget at this time. Copies of the proposed budget are available by calling 269.908.4135 or emailing sarah.nelson@macd.org. Members of the public wishing to join the budget hearing meeting can request a link or other method of participating in the meeting by calling (269) 908.4135 or emailing sarah.nelson@macd.org by September 29, 2020.
