Elected Board Position Openings
The Barry Conservation District is seeking candidates to serve on the Board of Directors. Four (4) seats will be up for election on March 8, 2022: Two (2) three-year terms, expiring March 8, 2025, and two (2) four-year terms, expiring March 8, 2026.
The Barry Conservation District Board of Directors is made up of community members of diverse backgrounds. The board supports local natural resource conservation efforts through fund development and fundraising efforts. It also advises the Executive Director on project and program direction. Board members attend monthly meetings, special subcommittee meetings, and volunteer at District events. Previous experience on boards is helpful, but not required, as these are elected positions.
Candidates must submit a petition signed by at least five residents of the district (Barry County). A resident is defined as an individual, at least 18 years of age, who lives within the district boundary and can verify their current address by one (1) piece of identification which proves residency. Nominating petitions are available through the Conservation District. The deadline for nominating petitions is Friday, January 7, 2022, at 3:30 pm. Associate Board Member Openings
The Barry Conservation District is seeking volunteer associate board members for the Board of Directors. These positions are appointed, not elected, and do not have defined term limits or an official vote in board decisions. However, associate members opinions are valued and participation in meetings and events is encouraged.
People who are interested in resource issues in the county and would like to learn more and get involved are encouraged to inquire about an associate position. Interested candidates can contact the Executive Director by phone or email for more information.
