Red Pine (Pinus Resinosa) This pine is moderate to fast growing with a height that can reach 50 to 80 feet. It can reach a height of 6 feet in 6 to 7 years. The needles are 2 to 4 inches long and slender with a dark green color and the bark is reddish brown. The pine is a native Michigan tree. Wood is used for construction, pilings, flooring, RR ties, pulp, poles, and wildlife cover. It needs to live in coarse, well-drained sandy soil with full sun. It can tolerate dry, windy, and rocky conditions. |
