Silver Maple (Acer Saccharinum)
The Silver Maple is the fastest growing of the Native American maple species. It can grow 10 to 12 feet in height in 4 to 5 years with a mature height of 40 to 100 feet. It is a graceful plant with silvery bark and leaves that start out as light green, mostly silver on the underside and then turns bright yellow in the fall. It tolerates rough conditions, a wide variety of soils, and can grow in partial shade. It reaches its highest height in moist soils. The Silver Maple provides good shade. |
